Masterplanning Plugin for Sketchup

We spend a large amount of time on R&D. It's common to work on projects that expand and evolve past the original scope of work. As we learn more about a project and the challenges it is attempting to overcome, we find ourselves recommending further solutions. After discussions with the Head Masterplanner for the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation we realised that 100s of hrs were needlessly spent working out if constant iterations to the design still resulted in the same project targets e.g. 24,000 new homes. We therefore developed a sketchup plugin that significantly improved the process. The project team could select 3D massing, then move it up and down around the entire site. The effect on the overall targets could be automatically calculated and viewed instantly, avoiding lengthy exports and recalculations. Essentially we built a version of excel with sketchup that was intrinsically linked to the model. This type of fluid data source is now common place within BIM but sketchup traditionally hasn't been able to offer the same functionality.
