With any realtime application a huge amount of time goes into the optimisation and development of the model. Achieving 60 frames per second creates a smooth and seamless experience for the viewer. This is difficult process requiring modern graphics cards, expensive hardware and optimised models.

We encountered this challenge when working with Quintain on Wembley Park….and solved it.

After discussions with the Head Masterplanner for the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation we realised that 100s of hrs were needlessly spent working out if constant iterations to the design still resulted in the same project targets e.g. 24,000 new homes. We therefore developed a sketchup plugin that significantly improved the process.

Organizing physical events can be particularly challenging and expensive. Lucid recently worked with Elysian to create an alternative 3D web based public consultation.

A 360 degree exhibition space was designed with access to the various boards explaining the scheme. A live chat function was also available at agreed times. The key project team could respond directly to live questions and comments.

As part of the Future PropTech exhibition at the Business Design Centre, Lucid developed a new wayfinding system. By simply answering 3 questions, users could instantly orientate themselves and plot a clear route to their destination.

Lucid Spaces are beautiful realtime walkthrough experiences that can be viewed on computers, tablets and smartphones using a browser. By combining CGIs and simplified models, users can now enjoy a high degree of material detail, lighting quality and immersiveness. All without the need for traditional expensive hardware.

Recently the team has been exploring the possibilities of control and connectivity and working with BASE models, a physical 3D model company. The results then display and light up the same apartments within a physical 3D building using a sophisticated LED lighting rig.
