The best designed maps often look the simplest. However the task of creating them is extremely difficult. It’s a balancing act. On one hand they need to be on brand and visually stimulating. On the other, they need to deliver clear and concise information. A map is useless unless it helps you understand where you are and where to go. 3D interactive wayfaring is therefore becoming more popular, offering much quicker and clearer results after a simple click of a button. They are leaving static, cumbersome maps behind. As part of the Future PropTech exhibition at the Business Design Centre, Lucid developed a new wayfinding system. By simply answering 3 questions, users could instantly orientate themselves and plot a clear route to their destination. This intuitive application has great potential within any environment where people need wayfinding support e.g. shopping malls, festivals, community events, hospitals. As a digital solution it can also be easily updated and offer live event or special offer information too. The future of maps is movement and monetisation.
